Integra LifeSciences Announces Launch of the Integra Brain Retractor System

PLAINSBORO, N.J., Jun 15, 2007 (PrimeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq:IART) announced today that it has launched the Integra Brain Retractor System. This new line extension, combined with the existing BUDDE(R) Halo System, allows Integra to offer neurosurgeons a comprehensive line of brain retractors. Like the BUDDE(R) Halo System, the new Integra Brain Retractor System attaches to standard MAYFIELD(R) skull clamps. The modular components of the Integra Brain Retraction System have a low-profile design that allows the neurosurgeon improved access to the surgical field. The design also provides easy and rapid set-up, as well as the flexibility of multiple configurations required for surrounding the surgical site, in a wide variety of neurosurgical procedures.

Neurosurgeons use brain retractor systems for the retraction of delicate brain tissue during complex neurosurgical procedures, such as tumor removal and aneurysm repair. "The Integra brain retractor product line now offers a full range of retraction solutions, and meets the majority of neurosurgeons' needs in the marketplace," said Jim McCafferty, Integra's Vice President of MAYFIELD(R) Marketing.

The Integra NeuroSciences direct sales organization will sell the Integra Brain Retractor System. Integra NeuroSciences is a leading provider of implants, devices, instruments, and systems used in neurosurgery, neuromonitoring, neuro-trauma, and related critical care. Integra NeuroSciences' direct selling effort in the United States and Europe involves more than 150 professionals.
