Integra LifeSciences Announces Launch of the Uni-CP Compression Plate

PLAINSBORO, N.J., Jul 12, 2007 (PrimeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq:IART) announced today that it released the Uni-CP(TM) Compression Plating system, the latest addition to its extremity fixation product line. The Uni-CP(TM) Plating System has an FDA clearance in the United States and a CE Mark Certification in the European Union. Integra will feature the product at the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society summer meeting, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, July 13-15, 2007.

The Uni-CP(TM) Plate is the newest addition to the Uniclip(R) Compression System, which includes a line of compression plates and staples designed for the correction and stabilization of osteotomies and fusions in the hand and foot. Each product employs a patented diamond shaped bridge design to provide compression through controlled deformation of the implant by the surgeon.

The Uni-CP(TM) Plate adds the following features and benefits to the Uniclip(R) Compression System:

 * Screw fixation when additional pull out strength is desired;
 * Patented Surfix(TM) locking technology that enables the surgeon
   to securely position the plate for optimal deformity correction;
 * 2- and 4-hole locking plate designs for increased stability.

"The Uni-CP(TM) Plate adds a lot of flexibility to the Uniclip(R) Compression System. The surgeon can use a staple for less demanding procedures or switch to a plate with 2 or 4 locking screws when additional fixation is needed, all within a single system. The use of the Uni-CP locking compression plate in osteoporotic bone has proven invaluable in complex reconstructive foot surgery," said Stephen Conti, MD, Director, Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Compression staples and plates are used extensively in mid and hind foot reconstruction procedures. Based on available procedural data, Integra estimates that the Uniclip(R) Compression System can be used in over 40,000 procedures annually.

Integra's Extremity Reconstruction sales organization will sell the Uni-CP(TM) plate. The Extremity Reconstruction sales force includes over 75 U.S. sales specialists who focus on lower extremity fixation, upper extremity fixation, wound repair, tendon protection, and peripheral nerve repair/protection.
