Caruso, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2006 Award in the Life Sciences category in the Greater Philadelphia Region. According to Ernst & Young, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic and growing businesses. Richard E. Caruso was selected by an independent panel of judges and the award was presented at an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 20th anniversary gala event at the Hyatt Regency, Penn's Landing on June 23, 2006.

Dr. Caruso has been Integra's Chairman since 1992. Prior to December 1997, he served as CEO from 1992 to 1997 and President since 1995. From 1969 to 1992, Dr. Caruso was a principal of LFC Financial Corporation, a project finance company, where he was also a director and Executive Vice President. Dr. Caruso is on the Board of Susquehanna University, the Baum School of Art and the Uncommon Individual Foundation (Founder). He received a B.S. degree from Susquehanna University, an M.S.B.A. degree from Bucknell University and a Ph.D. degree from the London School of Economics, University of London.

Richard E. Caruso, Ph.D. founded Integra LifeSciences in 1989 with a vision that the human body could be enabled to regenerate many of its own damaged or diseased tissues. The overall national Entrepreneur Of The Year award recipient is then considered for the world event held in Monte Carlo.
