Integra LifeSciences Announces Launch of the MAYFIELD Ultra 360 Patient Positioning System
PLAINSBORO, N.J., Oct. 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq:IART) announced today that it has launched the MAYFIELD® Ultra 360 Patient Positioning System for improved cranial stabilization. MAYFIELD products are sold throughout the world and are the market share leader in cranial stabilization in the United States.
Presently, neurosurgeons use a standard MAYFIELD base unit to attach various components of cranial stabilization equipment to an operating room table. Movement of that equipment is strictly planar, which limits a neurosurgeon's ability to position the patient's head exactly where desired.
The patented MAYFIELD Ultra 360 system revolutionizes this process. Its unique free-flowing mechanism allows for 360 degrees rotation of selected headrest equipment, which facilitates precise patient positioning. The Ultra 360 system has the potential to replace thousands of existing base units that have been sold over the past 38 years.
"The MAYFIELD Ultra 360 system was developed in direct response to the input of neurosurgeons throughout the country," said Jim McCafferty, Integra's Vice President of Marketing for the MAYFIELD product line. "We believe that it will set a new standard in cranial stabilization. The ever-demanding needs of neurosurgeons require increasingly more precision, and it all starts with ideal positioning of the patient's head, which the MAYFIELD Ultra 360 system now provides."
The MAYFIELD Ultra 360 Patient Positioning System will be sold by the Integra NeuroSciences® direct sales organization. Integra NeuroSciences is a leading provider of implants, devices, instruments, and systems used in neurosurgery, neuromonitoring, neuro-trauma, and related critical care. Integra NeuroSciences' direct selling effort in the United States and Europe currently involves more than 150 professionals.
