Integra LifeSciences Introduces Four New Products at the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Conference
PLAINSBORO, N.J., March 15, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Integra LifeSciences (Nasdaq:IART) introduced four new products today at the AORN conference in Denver, Colorado. The products include Secure-Cut™ Reposable Endoscopic Scissors, Ruggles™ Bayonet Curettes, Jarit® Disposable Bi-polar Forceps, and an improved LumbarTrak™ retraction system.
Secure-Cut™ reposable scissors are composed of a cost effective reusable carbon fiber handle with a PEEK shaft and "always sharp" single use scissor tips. The system includes a secure connection comprised of stainless steel threading that ensures a robust, lasting connection; and a protective PEEK insulation that prevents arcing. Surgeons expect their scissors to be sharp, and the Secure-CutTM system gives them the confidence that they'll have a sharp, new cut every time.
The Ruggles™ Bayonet Curettes allow spine surgeons to see the operative field more clearly by providing an offset handle. The new line of Ruggles™ Curettes complements Integra's already comprehensive array of neuro/spine instruments.
Integra's improved LumbarTrak™ retractor system incorporates enhancements to the frame that provide unparalleled strength. Since minutes matter in the operating room, the LumbarTrak™ retractor system is designed to help surgeons establish prompt and lasting exposure during their lumbar spine procedures.
Finally, the new Jarit® Disposable Bi-polar Forceps deliver gentle coagulation between highly polished instrument tips to minimize coagulum adhesion. This important addition to Integra's forceps portfolio complements its Buzz™ reusable non-stick forceps.
"We realize that minutes matter in the operating room, and that the busiest surgeons expect us to help them minimize uncertainty within their procedures," said Dan Reuvers, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for Integra Surgical. "Each of these new instruments is designed to provide surgeons with added confidence, ensuring they have the most dependable tools available."
Integra Surgical's direct sales organization and distributor network will sell the four new surgical instruments. Integra Surgical is a leading provider of Jarit® brand surgical instruments, used in general, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery and most other surgical modalities, the Omni-Tract® family of retractor systems, and the LUXTEC® illumination products.
